Where the people who live here actually eat - honest food, fair prices.
The promenade charges for the view, not the cooking. One or two streets inland, the same money buys fresh fish, proper Canarian potatoes and a carafe of local wine. Look for a chalkboard menu del dia at lunch - usually the best deal in town.
Near the old harbour you still find simple family places where menus are short and Spanish comes first. That is a good sign, not a problem - point, smile, eat well.
